Why Collins for the Twin Cities

Roofs built like they should be — with trained crews, in our own shop, on your property.

01

We Manufacture Onsite

We bring portable roll-forming equipment to your property and manufacture standing seam panels there — at ground level for most projects, or set up directly on the roof for large commercial work. Continuous panels, no shipping damage, custom-cut for your specific roof. Most metal roofers can't do this.

02

Sheet Metal in Our Cloquet Shop

Custom-fabricated trim, flashings, soffit, and fascia from our Cloquet sheet metal shop — fabricated at our own shop, installed by our trained crews. The reason your installation looks finished, not patched together.

03

Built for Twin Cities Weather

Roofs engineered for the freeze-thaw cycles, severe-weather seasons, and storm exposure specific to the metro and Southern Minnesota. Class 4 hail rating, wind-rated installations, and engineered ice dam prevention.

Stories from Twin Cities customers

★★★★★
I received quotes from 5 different companies and went with Collins because they exclusively focus on metal. Their quote came in at $38,000 — the others ranged from $57,000 to $85,000. The roof took 3 days. Class IV impact rating got me 25% off my homeowner’s insurance every year. Collins Roofing & Sheet Metal is the very best.

★★★★★
We got 6 bids before choosing Collins for our new metal roof. We liked their experience with metal, competitive prices, and that they cut the material on site. The crew was thoughtful and cleaned up daily. The real test is how things go when there are issues — they communicated clearly and made it right. I would definitely choose them again.

★★★★★
Storm destroyed our new asphalt roof. Collins came in and replaced it with a metal roof that’s built to handle anything our weather throws at it. Crew was respectful, communication was clear, and the workmanship is top-notch.

Common Questions

Twin Cities Roofing FAQs

How much does a standing seam metal roof cost in the Twin Cities?

+
Every property is different, but most Collins standing seam projects fall between $25,000 and $65,000 — with most landing in the $35,000–$50,000 range — depending on size, pitch, complexity, and color selection. We offer free on-site estimates and financing up to 84 months, which works out to a comfortable monthly payment on the last roof you’ll ever buy.

Is a standing seam roof loud when it rains?

+
No. A properly installed standing seam metal roof is only about 3 decibels louder than an architectural shingle — imperceptible to the human ear. Installed over a solid deck with proper underlayment, it sounds no different inside your home than the asphalt roof you have today.

Can I put a metal roof over my existing shingles?

+
Yes — using our 138T standing seam system. Installing over existing shingles avoids tear-off cost and disposal, and the 138T system’s engineered clip design specifically supports installation over a shingle substrate. Most metal roofers won’t do this. We do it routinely.

How does standing seam handle Twin Cities hail and wind?

+
All Collins standing seam panels carry a Class 4 impact rating — the highest available. Wind rated to 110+ mph standard, with proper installation rated up to 200 mph. The Class 4 rating typically gets Twin Cities homeowners 10–25% off their homeowner’s insurance premium.

What’s the difference between Collins and other metal roofers in the Twin Cities?

+
Three things. (1) We manufacture panels onsite at your property — most metal roofers order from factories. (2) We fabricate custom sheet metal at our Cloquet shop. (3) Every install is done by our trained crews.

How long does a Collins standing seam roof last?

+
All Collins standing seam systems are 50+ year systems with 40-year limited material warranties and 20-year labor warranties. Most property owners who install a Collins standing seam roof never replace it again.

Do you serve Wisconsin?

+
Yes. We hold Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor license 091400032-DC and serve Western Wisconsin communities including Hudson, Eau Claire, River Falls, and Rice Lake from our Spring Lake Park office.
