Standing seam is a metal roofing system where individual metal panels are joined by raised, vertical seams that interlock without exposed fasteners. The seams give the system its name and create a continuous water barrier that's significantly more reliable than traditional shingle, screw-down panel, or clip-down systems.
What sets a properly installed standing seam apart from cheaper metal alternatives is the engineering of those seams. Done correctly, they accommodate the natural thermal expansion and contraction of metal — preventing the kind of fastener failure that plagues lesser systems. Done incorrectly, they trap water and cause leaks. The difference is in installation.
Collins manufactures and installs standing seam in 22, 24, and 26 gauge steel and aluminum, in over a dozen color options, with material warranties up to 40 years and labor warranties up to 30 years. We are one of the few contractors in Minnesota and Wisconsin manufacturing panels on-site — producing continuous lengths custom-cut to your specific roof.
