Standing Seam Galvalume Roof
Knife River, MN

When building or renovating along the North Shore, the environment dictates your material choices. Our recent project in Knife River, MN is a perfect example of how form meets function in a harsh climate.

The homeowners needed a roof that could handle heavy lake-effect snow without the constant worry of ice dams or wind damage from Lake Superior gusts. We installed a custom 24-gauge Galvalume Standing Seam system that provides a sleek, modern look while offering some of the highest durability ratings available today.

The Problem: North Shore Weather vs. Traditional Shingles

In Knife River and nearby Two Harbors, traditional asphalt shingles often fail prematurely. The constant freeze-thaw cycles cause shingles to crack, and heavy snow loads can lead to structural stress.

For this project, we focused on:

  • Snow Shedding: The smooth surface of the Standing Seam allows snow to slide off before it can build up and cause damage.

  • Corrosion Resistance: The Galvalume finish is specifically designed to resist the damp, often salty air found near the Great Lakes.

  • Maintenance-Free Longevity: Unlike shingles that need replacing every 15–20 years, this metal system is built to last 50+ years.

While we are proud of how this Knife River home turned out, our crews are active across the entire region. Whether it’s a modern project in Duluth or a commercial roof in Rice Lake, we bring the same level of specialized sheet metal expertise to every job site.
