This Duluth lake home sits in one of the most demanding microclimates in Minnesota. Lake-effect weather, ice dam pressure, and steep snow loads all converge on a roof that needs to perform for decades without intervention.
The previous asphalt roof had failed prematurely. The owners came to Collins specifically because they wanted onsite-rolled standing seam — they’d researched the difference between factory-shipped panels and continuous onsite-rolled panels, and chose accordingly.
We did a complete tear-off, installed an ice and water shield across the entire deck, then rolled and installed continuous 24-gauge steel panels in a brandywine finish. The Class 4 hail rating got the homeowner a 25% reduction on their insurance premium.
